Where you can send faxes

The numbers we can send to, how to write them and the ones we can't fax.

Right now we send faxes to the US and Canada.

How to write the number

Type the recipient's fax number with its area code: 10 digits for the US and Canada, like (212) 555-0100. Spaces, dashes and parentheses are fine. Toll-free numbers, like 800 or 888 numbers, work too.

Numbers written with letters, like 1-800-FAX-HELP, need to be typed as digits.

Numbers we can't fax

Some numbers can't receive faxes. We tell you on the first step:

  • Service numbers, like 911 or 411.
  • Premium-rate numbers, like 900 numbers.
  • Personal numbers (like 500 numbers), pager numbers and voicemail numbers.

We also don't send faxes to a few numbers we've blocked. If you try, we tell you, and nothing is charged.

One recipient per fax

Each fax goes to one number. To send the same document to several places, send one fax to each.
